Should you replace or repair windows

According to home renovation experts from About.com, home owners should consider the following problems in replacement window checklist:

  • Upper or lower sash unable to move
  • Rotting or split muntins, strips separating panes of glass
  • Missing or rotting drip, the exterior shield above the top of the window
  • Loose, cracked, rotting or missing exterior casing (trim)
  • Missing or brittle potty holding glass panes to the muntins
  • Excessive water infiltration (i.e., leaking windows)
  • Cracked or broken glass

If you have one or more problems described above it is probably time to replace rather than repair. Please proceed to our Window Section to consider window styles and features. If your windows are in good condition and operate smoothly, you may be able to upgrade the weather stripping, caulk and cap the exteriors and control the room temperature all year around with our window insulator (see our solar blinds/window insulators under Energy Efficiency Products Section). Before making a final decision please give us a call to discuss your options.
